dr nick kairinos Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgeon
MBChB, MRCS, FC Plast Surg, MMed, PhD

Dr Kairinos is a board certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who completed his post graduate training at the University of Cape Town. Although general plastic and cosmetic surgery forms the bulk of his work, Dr Kairinos also has a keen interest in hand surgery and is a sessional consultant at the Dept of Hand Surgery, Groote Schuur Academic Hospital.

Dr Kairinos is a key opinion leader in the field of complex wounds and was awarded a PhD for his research in the field of negative-pressure wound therapy.

As a member of the multidisciplinary team of the prestigious Chrysalis Clinic in Claremont, Dr Kairinos also has a special interest in post-bariatric plastic surgery (following massive weight loss). Body contouring is characterised by multiple surgeries (usually four to six) as the individual operations need  to be done in stages. Dr Kairinos and his colleague, Dr Landau, work as a team on all body contouring operations. Their slick teamwork has allowed most patients to have two stages of their multiple surgeries in one sitting, reducing the total number of operations that a patient would need.

In addition to providing a high standard of clinical care, Dr Kairinos strives to do so with warmth and sincerity, treating patients as though they were family members.

In his spare time, Dr Kairinos thoroughly enjoys socialising with friends and family. He loves the outdoors, particularly camping, fishing, mountain biking and hiking. Dr Kairinos’ hobbies include progressive work on numerous medical and non-medical inventions, some of which have been patented. Dr Kairinos is happily married and has two children.
