Infertility And Menstrual Problems -

Obesity has been shown to be associated with infertility (difficulty falling pregnant) and irregular periods.

The most common cause of this is polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), a condition in which patients have obesity, irregular menstrual periods, ovarian cysts and features of elevated testosterone levels, with acne and excess body hair.

In men, obesity is associated with decreased libido and infertility because of its effect on testosterone and semen production.

In both men and women, weight loss is the ideal treatment and has been shown to improve the above conditions.
